TL;DR

Preview Night is Wednesday, July 22, 2026 — early exhibit-hall access for four-day badge holders and industry at the San Diego Convention Center, 111 Harbor Drive downtown. Badges are sold out, so nearly everyone here tonight is committed and most fly in the same day. EGT's real money-trip: SAN airport transfer, flat $65 from central San Diego, either direction — no surge, flight-tracked, named driver, 100% electric. Local runs are $40 flat downtown hotel ↔ Convention Center. Fleet: BMW i7 (2), Rivian R1S (up to 4), Escalade IQ-L (up to 5 + gear). Landing late? We track the flight. Call (858) 522-0264.

Preview Night is an out-of-town crowd — and it starts at the airport

Preview Night is the soft open: four-day badge holders and industry get exclusive early access to the exhibit hall before the Con's public days begin. It is a committed crowd — badges are sold out — and a heavily out-of-town one. Most of these attendees are landing at San Diego International (SAN) that same Wednesday, dropping bags at a Gaslamp or Marina hotel, and heading straight to Harbor Drive for the evening hall open.

Convention-week road fact (official): Harbor Drive closes to regular vehicle traffic between First Avenue and Park Boulevard on Preview Night — Wednesday July 22, 2:00–10:00 PM — per Comic-Con International's Harbor Drive advisory. Only Ace garage-pass holders, ADA, and emergency vehicles are exempt, so the curb directly in front of the Convention Center is unreachable by car from 2 PM on. EGT plans around it: your named driver stages at the First Avenue / Gaslamp perimeter or the Park Boulevard side and confirms the exact open curb by text before every drop and pickup.

That travel pattern is exactly why so many Comic-Con visitors have no default San Diego car service — they do not live here, they only need a ride a few days a year, and they discover their operator the week of the show. EGT is built for that arrival: a flat SAN airport transfer at $65 from central San Diego, one operator who tracks your flight, and a named driver waiting at baggage claim. No surge, no scramble for a rideshare in a stacked airport queue.

The Convention Center sits at 111 Harbor Drive, right on the water downtown — walking distance from the Gaslamp and Marina district hotels where Comic-Con attendees stay. That is the whole geography of the week: airport in, hotel base, short hops to Harbor Drive. EGT covers all three legs at published flat rates.

Event dates per the official Comic-Con International calendar; venue location per the San Diego Convention Center listing. Checked ; Harbor Drive closure windows re-verified .

Flat published rates — no surge, no Con-week markup

EGT's Comic-Con pricing is the same published flat rate we run all year. The airport transfer and the downtown local ride are fixed at booking — the Con does not move the number:

TripVehicleFlat rateNotes
SAN airport ↔ central San Diego (Downtown / Gaslamp / Marina)BMW i7 (2)$65Flight-tracked, either direction
SAN airport ↔ central San DiegoRivian R1S (up to 4)from $65Rate varies by neighborhood — call to confirm
SAN airport ↔ central San DiegoEscalade IQ-L (up to 5 + gear)from $65Best per-seat value for a group
Downtown hotel ↔ Convention Center (local)Any vehicle$40One pickup, one drop-off

Doctrine at EGT is consistency over extraction: we do not surge a headline event. The SAN transfer is the published $65 from central San Diego neighborhoods and the local downtown hop is the published $40 — the same rates on Preview Night as on any Wednesday. What Con week changes is availability, not price.

Per-seat math — why a full vehicle wins

Because the fare is flat per vehicle, the more seats you fill the cheaper the ride gets per person. A group flying in together for Preview Night splits one airport fare, not four:

  • Escalade IQ-L, 5 riders + cosplay/gear: one $65 SAN transfer is about $13 a seat — with room for prop cases, armor builds, and luggage that would never fit a sedan rideshare.
  • Rivian R1S, 4 riders: about $16 a seat from the airport, generous cargo.
  • Downtown local $40 in the IQ-L for 5: about $8 a seat for the hotel-to-Convention-Center hop.

No surge multiplier, no per-bag charge, and one named driver you can text — versus a stacked airport rideshare queue on the busiest travel week of the San Diego year.

Two round trips per vehicle — early drop, late drop

Each EGT vehicle runs two round trips per event window — an early drop and a late drop. On Preview Night that usually means an early hotel-to-Convention-Center run for the crowd that wants floor time the moment the hall opens, and a later run for arrivals still landing at SAN. The early-drop and late-drop slots per vehicle are limited and confirmed in the order requests arrive. It is live availability, not a hard ceiling — but the closer to Con week, the fewer slots remain. When they fill, EGT opens a cancellation list. Book early.

Multi-day holds — one operator for the whole Con

The strongest Preview-Night play is to base your whole Con with EGT: SAN pickup when you land Wednesday, the local $40 downtown hops each day, and the return SAN transfer when you fly out Sunday. One operator who knows your name, your hotel, and your gear — flat rates the whole way, no surge on any leg. Out of town and planning by phone? Call or text (858) 522-0264 and an owner walks you through airport timing, hotel-to-venue, and multi-day holds before you book.
