Coronado is reached by car via a single span — the Coronado Bridge — so every car, rideshare, and delivery shares one chokepoint. At rush hour, during big events, on summer weekends, and especially on NASCAR weekend, that bridge backs up and rideshare surges right when you're trying to leave. The bay ferry bypasses all of it: a short, genuinely scenic crossing with skyline views, no traffic, no bridge.
