Uber & Lyft to SoFi Stadium from San Diego vs a Flat Round Trip

Rideshare quotes you the ride out. It never quotes you the ride back — and the ride back is priced at 11pm, 125 miles from home, by 70,000 people leaving at the same moment.

Direct answer: San Diego to SoFi Stadium is about 125 miles each way. Uber and Lyft will both take you — the outbound leg is straightforward and, for one person travelling one way, usually the cheaper option. The round trip is where the two products stop being comparable. Rideshare cannot quote your return in advance, because that fare is set dynamically after the event by demand from a sold-out stadium. Elite Green Transportation runs the same trip as one flat staged round trip: $300 BMW i7 (up to 2), $350 Rivian R1S (up to 4), $400 Cadillac Escalade IQ-L (up to 5) — the return is bought before you leave San Diego and the number does not move.

TL;DR

One person, one way, flexible timing → take the rideshare. Two or more people, or any round trip, or any night you actually need to be home → the flat rate is both cheaper per seat and the only one of the two that is a known number when you book it.

The structural difference, not the marketing difference

These are not two prices for one product. They are two products.

EGT rates are published flat rates from our rate card, gratuity and charging included. Rideshare fares are dynamic by design; we do not publish a competitor figure here because there isn't a stable one to publish — and that is precisely the point being made.

Where rideshare genuinely wins — and we would rather say so. If you are one person, going one direction, with a flexible schedule and no luggage, a rideshare to SoFi will almost always cost you less than $300 and you should book it. It also wins if your plans are uncertain: we ask for a booked date, and rideshare asks for nothing until you tap. The flat rate is not the right answer for every trip. It is the right answer for a group, for a round trip, and for a night where being stranded 125 miles from home is not an acceptable outcome.

The 11pm problem

The outbound leg from San Diego is the easy half of this trip. Traffic on I-5 and I-405 is predictable enough, you leave with time in hand, and a driver will happily accept the fare.

The return is a different situation entirely. A full house at SoFi is roughly 70,000 people, and a large share of them open the same two apps within about fifteen minutes of the final song. You are in a queue in a designated pickup zone, your fare is being set by that surge in real time, and the trip you need — 125 miles south, arriving after 1am — is one many drivers decline. None of that is a flaw in rideshare; it is how a demand-priced marketplace is supposed to behave. It is simply a poor fit for a long-distance return at the exact moment demand peaks.

A staged round trip removes the auction. The driver never left the area, the pickup point was agreed before the show, and the fare was fixed in San Diego hours earlier.

Rivian R1S4$350$88
Cadillac Escalade IQ-L5$400$80

Door pickup anywhere in San Diego County, 100% electric, a named driver confirmed in advance, gratuity and charging included, no surge on any date. The same rate applies to an NFL preseason game and to a sold-out stadium concert.

Book early, and only because it is true

EGT runs two vehicles. That is a real ceiling, not a sales line: when a date is committed, it is committed, and we will tell you to book elsewhere rather than leave you without a ride. Live per-date availability is published at the SoFi service page and on every event page, so you can check the real status before you call.

Upcoming SoFi dates from San Diego: Karol G, August 14, August 15 and August 16; Chargers vs 49ers, August 20; and the BTS ARIRANG run beginning September 1, which sold out on the January onsale.

Frequently asked

Can you take an Uber from San Diego to SoFi Stadium?

Yes. It is roughly a 125-mile trip each way and a driver will accept it. The outbound leg is the easy half. The problem is the return: you are 125 miles from home at 11pm, in a rideshare queue with tens of thousands of other people, on dynamic pricing that is set at that moment and cannot be locked in beforehand.

Is rideshare or a car service cheaper from San Diego to SoFi Stadium?

For one person travelling one way with a flexible schedule, rideshare is usually cheaper and is the honest recommendation. For a round trip, or for two or more people, EGT's flat rate is normally the lower and always the more predictable number: $300 BMW i7 for up to 2, $350 Rivian R1S for up to 4, $400 Escalade IQ-L for up to 5 — that is $80 per seat with five riders, round trip, with no surge.

What does EGT charge from San Diego to SoFi Stadium?

A flat staged round trip: $300 BMW i7 (up to 2), $350 Rivian R1S (up to 4), $400 Cadillac Escalade IQ-L (up to 5). Door pickup anywhere in San Diego County, the driver stays staged through the event, and the return is pre-booked before you leave home. Gratuity and charging are included and the price never moves. How do you get back from SoFi Stadium to San Diego after a concert?

With rideshare you join the designated pickup zone queue after the event and pay whatever dynamic pricing is at that moment — and on a sold-out night that is the single worst pricing window of the evening. With a pre-booked car service the return is already bought: you text your driver, who has been staged nearby the whole time, and the fare was fixed before you left San Diego.
