For a concert or game in San Diego, Elite Green Transportation’s published flat round trip is usually cheaper than an Uber Black round trip once the post-show surge and crawl are counted, it is the only San Diego black-car operator that publishes a flat event price (the others require a quote or a 3–4 hour minimum), and the car is waiting at an agreed point when the show ends instead of being summoned into a 2,000-person pickup scrum. The problem every event ride has to solve
Getting to a show is easy. Getting home is where the money and the time go. At Petco Park, rideshare demand peaks about 17 minutes after the final out and the apps cannot keep up; riders are routed to a designated loading zone at Park Blvd & Harbor Drive and told to wait out the rush or walk to the Gaslamp. At North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre the single exit road backs up for 30–60 minutes. On Gaslamp weekend nights the City bans app pickups on Fifth Avenue from 10 PM to 3 AM. Uber Black surges on the same multiplier as UberX — Padres games and Del Mar trigger it, and Comic-Con evenings approach 2.8×.
A prearranged car solves all of that: the driver is already staged, meets you at an exact confirmed point, and the price was fixed when you booked.
Uber Black, worked out
San Diego Uber Black rates (RideWise table, November 2026): $7.60 base + $3.72 per mile + $0.62 per minute, $16.20 minimum, no booking fee. The return leg below assumes a modest 1.8× surge and 20–30 extra minutes in the exit crawl — conservative against the 2.8× peaks Uber riders report at major San Diego events. Both legs are one-way fares, so the round trip is the sum.

Two more things the Uber Black column does not include: the 20–40 minute wait for a Black car to reach you after a show, and the fact that an Uber fare is per ride while the EGT number is per vehicle — four people in the Rivian R1S to Pechanga pay $160 total, $40 a seat.

Each vehicle runs one round trip per event, so a date can sell out; live per-car availability is shown on every venue page and a full date opens a timestamped cancellation list. Pickups between 11 PM and 5 AM add $35 per leg.
What the price buys that an app cannot
- The car is already there. The driver stages at the venue through the show and meets you at an exact, confirmed point — not a loading zone you have to find.
- Named driver, owner-operated. The person driving is an owner or a vetted named driver confirmed in advance. No swaps, no cancellations at 10:45 PM.
- The number cannot move. Published price = charged price. No surge, no booking fee, no “regulatory recovery” line.
- Venue knowledge. Which gate, which lot, where the police close the road at let-out — it is in the plan before you leave the house.
