What the Zoo lot charges

The Zoo’s own parking page lists general parking at a flat $16 per vehicle per day and oversized vehicles at $44 per day. City of San Diego residents pay $8 ($22 oversized). Parking is complimentary for San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance members, one vehicle per active adult member, and the lot is monitored and managed by ACE Parking between 6 AM and 2 AM. The lot is off Park Boulevard and Zoo Place; the City confirms it is managed by the Zoo, not the City.

What the City’s Balboa Park lots charge

If you park elsewhere in the park for a museum-and-Zoo day, the City now runs paid parking in twelve lots (Alcazar, Casa de Balboa, Organ Pavilion, South Carousel, Space Theater, Bea Evenson, Federal, Marston Point, Palisades, Pepper Grove and the Inspiration Point lots). Non-resident rates: Level 1 lots $10 for up to four hours or $16 full day; Level 2 lots $10 per day; Level 3 lot first three hours free, then $10 full day. Enforcement is daily 8 AM – 6 PM with nine holiday exemptions. City residents get discounts ($5–$8 in Level 1, free in Levels 2–3) but must register in advance through the City’s permit portal with a one-time $5 fee — not something a visitor does the morning of.

Parking vs. rideshare vs. EGT

Drive and park: $16 at the Zoo, $10–$16 in the park. Cheapest if you have a car and do not mind the lot filling on weekends and school holidays.
Rideshare: the Zoo is central, so both legs are usually available; pricing is dynamic, and the 5 PM exit from Park Boulevard is exactly when it surges.
