The i7 carries 2 passengers and 2–3 large cases; the IQ-L seats up to 6 but EGT books up to 5 for comfort and swallows 8+ large cases. On event flat rates the IQ-L per-seat cost is always lower for groups of 3+ — e.g. a $400 SoFi round trip is $80/seat for five vs $150/seat for two in the i7. Not sure, or your party may grow? One-way flat rates follow the same logic: cruise terminal runs are $165 SAN ↔ B Street Pier, $50 downtown, $95 La Jolla, $75 Coronado — same price either vehicle, so the choice is purely seats and suitcases. Comic-Con week is $40 downtown-hotel ↔ Convention Center and $50 from SAN, and Pride week (July 15–19) is $40 flat — in the IQ-L at five-up, that's $8 a person each way.
When the flat rate is identical for both vehicles, take the i7 for two and the IQ-L for everyone else. When the rates differ (event round trips), the IQ-L wins per-seat from the third passenger onward.

Real bookings flip between these vehicles all the time — a couple becomes a foursome, a group of five becomes two. The honest defaults: airport transfer for two, light bags → i7.
