TL;DR
1–2 passengers with standard luggage → BMW i7. 3–5 passengers, or any party with heavy luggage (cruise, golf, family travel) → Escalade IQ-L. The i7 carries 2 passengers and 2–3 large cases; the IQ-L seats up to 6 but EGT books up to 5 for comfort and swallows 8+ large cases. On event flat rates the IQ-L per-seat cost is always lower for groups of 3+ — e.g. a $400 SoFi round trip is $80/seat for five vs $150/seat for two in the i7. Not sure, or your party may grow? The decision tree
- 1–2 passengers, standard luggage? BMW i7. It's the nicer ride for two — quieter, more private, and on per-seat event pricing two seats in the i7 cost what two seats cost.
- 3 passengers or more? Escalade IQ-L — the i7 physically can't take you. EGT books the IQ-L to 5 so nobody rides squeezed.
- 2 passengers but cruise-level luggage (4+ large cases, golf bags, strollers, gear)? IQ-L. The i7's 2–3-case trunk fills fast; embarkation morning is the wrong time to discover that.
- Party size might change? Book what you know today and call to switch — EGT guests move between vehicles routinely as plans firm up. On capacity-limited event dates (two round trips per event), switching is subject to the other vehicle still being open, so call early.
- Want the lowest cost per person? Fill the IQ-L. Every EGT event rate works out cheaper per seat at 5-up than any alternative below it — the math is in the next table.

One-way flat rates follow the same logic: cruise terminal runs are $65 SAN ↔ B Street Pier, $65 downtown, $95 La Jolla, $75 Coronado — same price either vehicle, so the choice is purely seats and suitcases. Comic-Con week is $40 downtown-hotel ↔ Convention Center and $65 from SAN, and Pride week (July 15–19) is $40 flat — in the IQ-L at five-up, that's $8 a person each way.
When the flat rate is identical for both vehicles, take the i7 for two and the IQ-L for everyone else. When the rates differ (event round trips), the IQ-L wins per-seat from the third passenger onward.
