Car service for frequent flyers in San Diego: the standing airport ride

If San Diego International is a place you go every week, every month or every season, you are not buying a ride. You are buying the same ride over and over, at hours when nothing else is reliable. This page explains the standing airport ride we run for people in that position, whether the reason is a client site in Phoenix or a mother who flies in from Denver, and prices it with published numbers only.

Direct answer

Is there a car service in San Diego for people who fly all the time? Yes. Elite Green Transportation runs a standing airport ride: you text (858) 522-0264 once with your typical flight pattern and pickup address, we lock the published flat rate for your zone, $65 to $115 each way for up to two passengers, and from then on the ride runs every time the pattern does. The flight is tracked every time, the same driver comes when possible, and you pay after each ride by cash, Zelle, Venmo or a payment link, or on one bill at the end of the week or month. It is the same arrangement for the consultant who flies out every Monday and for the family whose grandparents land at Terminal 2 once a month. No app, no deposit, no surge, no term.

1. Who this is for

A frequent flyer is not a job title. It is anyone whose calendar keeps producing the same airport at the same hour, for work or for the people they love. The standing ride is built for the pattern, not the reason. These are the patterns we already run.

  • The weekly consultant. Out Monday, back Thursday or Friday, the same terminal and the same first departure bank, forty five weeks a year. This is the traveler the weekly commuter page was priced around, and the Monday to Friday spoke is written for.
  • The hybrid worker who flies Monday and Friday. Lives in San Diego, works in another city three days a week, and has decided the car should stay in the driveway.
  • Nurses and traveling clinicians. Thirteen week contracts, shifts that end at 7 a.m. or 7 p.m., a flight home between assignments, and housing near a hospital whose address we keep on file. See the traveling nurse and clinician page.
  • Athletes, coaches and trainers. Away games and camps on a season schedule, equipment that does not fit in a sedan, and a return flight that changes when the game runs long. We track it.
  • Snowbirds and second home owners. Coronado, La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe and Carlsbad houses that are lived in for a season and flown to a dozen times a year. See the seasonal resident page.
  • Families with a relative who flies in monthly. A parent, a grandparent, an adult child. Someone you would drive to the airport yourself every time if the timing ever worked. See the personal frequent flyer page.
  • Couples with a long distance partner. Every other weekend, the same Friday evening arrival and the same Sunday afternoon departure, for as long as it takes.
  • College students home for breaks. Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break and summer, four round trips a year, with a parent who wants to know the pickup is arranged before the flight is booked.
  • Cruise regulars. Repeat sailings out of the B Street pier, a hotel night before, and a driver who already knows the ship. See the cruise regulars page.

If your pattern is not on this list, it does not matter. The mechanics below are the same for all of them.

2. How a standing airport ride works

  1. One text sets the pattern. You send us the days, the flights you usually take, the pickup address and how many people ride. We work the pickup window back from the flight and read it back to you. There is no app, no portal and no onboarding call.
  2. The flight is tracked every time. Not just the first time. Every arrival on the pattern is watched from the gate: land early and the car is already at the curb, land late and the pickup moves with the aircraft. The price does not move with it.
  3. The same driver, when possible. We are a small company and we would rather send the person who already knows your gate, your house and your dog than a stranger. On a three car fleet that is usually possible and not always possible, and we tell you which the evening before, by name.
  4. Pay after each ride. Nothing is due at booking. Settle each ride when it is done by cash, Zelle, Venmo or a payment link, or ask for one bill at the end of the week or the month, itemized by date. Either way the number on it is the published flat for your zone.
  5. Change it by text. A flight moves, a week is skipped, a second passenger joins: you send a text and the pattern updates. There is no term, no minimum and no charge for a week you do not travel.

The rate is locked at the published flat for your zone when the pattern is set. It is the same at 4:45 on a Monday morning as at 3 p.m. on a Saturday, and it is the same for the business flight and the personal one. EGT 1K: for every $1,000 of cumulative spend we return $100. It is a reward on the same rate everyone pays, not a member price.

3. The arithmetic against parking and rideshare

Every number here is published by the airport or by us, and the sources are at the bottom of the page.

Parking. The daily maximum is the price, every trip, all year, because SAN publishes no monthly product. A four night trip is four daily maximums, so $160 in parking before you have driven a mile, and a five night trip is $200. A round trip on our published metro flat is $130, and from the near ring $160. For most of the city the two legs of a private car cost the same as or less than leaving a car on the plaza, and that gap grows with every extra night, because parking is billed per day on a car that is doing nothing while a flat rate is charged twice no matter how long you are gone. The weekly commuter page works that arithmetic through a full year.

Rideshare. We do not publish a rideshare fare because there is not one to publish. The price is set per trip, on the morning of the flight, and the moment it is least predictable is exactly the moment a frequent flyer needs it most: surge pricing on a 5 a.m. Monday, when everyone on the first departure bank is requesting a car at once. A standing ride removes the decision. The rate was set when the pattern was set.

The personal traveler's version. Parking arithmetic does not apply to the mother who flies in monthly, but the same problem does. Somebody in the family drives to the airport, circles the Cell Phone Lot for an hour, or asks the grandparents to find a rideshare pickup zone with two bags. A flat $65 from the terminal to a Point Loma house, arranged once and repeated every month, is the version of this that families buy.

4. The published rate card

Zones are measured from San Diego International. The rate is per vehicle, not per person, and the same rate applies to every ride on the pattern.

Your areaUp to 2 passengersUp to 4Up to 5
Zone 1, metro core. Downtown, Point Loma, Pacific Beach, Mission Valley, Hillcrest, Kensington, Bay Ho, National City$65$85$105
Zone 2, near ring. La Jolla, UTC, Torrey Pines, Coronado, Mira Mesa, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carmel Valley, Chula Vista, Otay, San Ysidro, La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, Jamul$80$100$120
Zone 3, mid ring. Encinitas, Carlsbad, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Santa Fe, San Marcos, Escondido$95$115$135
Zone 4, far edge. Oceanside, Vista, Fallbrook, Alpine, Ramona$115$135$155

One way, per vehicle, to or from San Diego International. A round trip is two of them. All in: no surge, no deposit, no booking fee, and gratuity is at your discretion. A published rate can change for future bookings and never changes for a ride you have already booked. Full rate card: San Diego car service rates and pricing.

Two other airport lanes that frequent flyers ask about, both one way and flat: LAX $425 and John Wayne or Ontario $299. For cruise regulars, SAN to the B Street pier is $65 in the sedan, and the Hotel del Coronado to SAN is $65. Coronado houses are Zone 2.

5. How to start

Text (858) 522-0264 with two things: your typical flight pattern and your pickup address. That is the whole application. An owner reads it back to you with the zone rate and the pickup window, and the pattern is on the calendar. If you would rather talk it through, call the same number.

A useful first text looks like this: “Out Mondays on the 6:45 to Phoenix, back Thursdays landing around 6 p.m., pickup at our house in Carmel Valley, one passenger.” Or: “My mother flies in from Denver the first weekend of every month, lands Terminal 2 around 2 p.m., comes to us in Point Loma.” Either one is enough to set the whole pattern.

After that, the pattern runs. You will hear from us the evening before each ride with the driver's name, and you will not have to book anything again unless something changes.

6. What we will tell you before you ask

We are a small fleet. Three cars, owner operated. That is why the same driver is usually possible and why a standing pattern is confirmed against the calendar rather than promised blind. On a marquee event night, a sold out concert or a stadium date that has the whole city moving at once, your pickup may move by fifteen minutes and we will tell you the evening before. If your pattern needs a fleet of thirty cars on call, we are not it, and we will say so on the first text. If your pattern needs the same two or three people to know your house, your gate and your flight, we are exactly it.

SAN's own ride services page tells travelers to verify that a car service is licensed to pick up at the airport. Ours is published on every page: CPUC charter party permit TCP #0046494-A, with a San Diego County Regional Airport Authority permit and transponder. A frequent flyer is buying the same arrangement dozens of times a year, so that is a fact worth checking once.

7. A note for the business traveler's expense report

The IRS lists fares between the airport and your hotel, or between the hotel and a work location, among deductible travel expenses when you are away from your tax home on business, and draws the line at ordinary commuting inside the area where you normally work. We are a transportation company, not a tax advisor: the primary source is Topic No. 511, linked below, and the person to ask is your accountant. What we can give you is one itemized bill at the end of the month instead of a pile of app receipts, and a number that does not change from week to week.

SAN handled 25.32 million passengers in 2025, its busiest year on record. The airport is not getting quieter and the first departure bank is not getting earlier, because nothing may leave before 6:30 a.m. Predictability is the scarce good, and it is the one thing a standing ride sells.

8. Questions frequent flyers ask

What is a standing airport ride?

It is a recurring airport pickup or drop set up once by text. You give Elite Green Transportation your typical flight pattern and pickup address, we lock the published flat rate for your zone, and the ride runs every time the pattern repeats, with the flight tracked, the driver named the evening before and nothing due at booking. It works the same for a weekly business flight and for a relative who visits monthly.

Do I need to fly for work to set one up?

No. About half the standing patterns we run are personal: a parent who visits every month, a college student home for breaks, a partner who flies in every other weekend, a family that sails from the B Street pier twice a year. The rate, the flight tracking and the mechanics are identical. The only difference is who gets the bill.

How much does a standing airport ride cost in San Diego?

The published flat rate for your zone, one way, per vehicle: $65 from the metro core, $80 from the near ring, $95 from the mid ring and $115 from the far edge for up to two passengers. Up to four passengers is $85, $100, $115 or $135 by zone, and up to five is $105, $120, $135 or $155. A round trip is two legs. LAX is $425 one way and John Wayne or Ontario is $299. The rate is locked when the pattern is set and does not surge.

Is that cheaper than parking at the airport?

For most of San Diego, yes, and it is never worse by much. SAN publishes a $40 daily maximum at both terminal parking plazas and $60 per day for valet, with no monthly or frequent parker product, so a four to five night trip is $160 to $200 in parking alone before the drive. A round trip on the metro flat is $130 and from the near ring $160. From the mid and far rings the round trip costs somewhat more than parking, and what it buys is two drives you do not make at 4:45 in the morning.

Will I get the same driver every time?

When possible, yes, and on a three car owner operated fleet it usually is. We would rather send the person who already knows your gate and your house. When it is not possible, you will know the evening before, because the driver's name goes out by text before every ride.

How do I pay?

After each ride, by cash, Zelle, Venmo or a payment link. If you would rather not think about it every time, ask for one bill at the end of the week or the month, itemized by date. There is no deposit, no minimum and no term, and nothing bills for a week you do not travel.

What happens when my flight is late, early or cancelled?

We track every flight on the pattern. Early, and the car is already there. Late, and the pickup moves with the aircraft. Cancelled, and you text us the new flight and the pattern picks up from there. None of those changes the price.

How do I start?

Text (858) 522-0264 with your typical flight pattern and your pickup address. An owner reads it back with the zone rate and the pickup window, and the pattern is on the calendar. If anything changes later, another text updates it.
