The Sound is an indoor, ~1,900-cap music hall at the Del Mar Fairgrounds (2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd), programmed by Belly Up Presents. You enter one Main Gate off Jimmy Durante Blvd, parking is ~$20–25 general / ~$30–31 premium, first-come and no re-entry — and when the summer horse-racing meet or the county fair runs the same day, the lot backs up fast. The Sound is a genuinely good room — an intimate, ~1,900-capacity indoor hall built into the former Surfside Race Place on the east side of the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The music's easy; the getting-in-and-out is the catch. Everyone enters through the Fairgrounds Main Gate only, parking opens 90 minutes before doors and is first-come, and rideshare is directed back to that same Main Gate (there's no separate venue address — you enter "Del Mar Fairgrounds Main Gate"). Once you leave, there's no re-entry.
The real pain is overlap. The Sound shares the fairgrounds — and its lot — with everything else there, so on a night during the summer horse-racing meet (mid-July to early September) or the San Diego County Fair, the lot fills early and Jimmy Durante Blvd and Via de la Valle back up onto I-5. Those are exactly the nights a gate-drop car service is worth the most.

Each EGT vehicle runs two round trips per event — an early drop and a late drop. The late-drop party gets a late pickup shortly after the show ends, so you're not standing at the Main Gate waiting on surge pricing. That means a limited number of early and late slots per vehicle, confirmed in the order requests arrive. When they're full, EGT opens a cancellation list. Book early — especially on race-meet and fair nights.
