The Sound at Del Mar — Concert Transportation from San Diego

Part of our Del Mar & Solana Beach concert guide — also covers the Belly Up Tavern, same flat grid.

The fairgrounds’ intimate concert hall books national headliners all season — and every show exits onto the same one road. EGT runs flat electric round trips with a staged driver: curb drop before doors, pickup that rolls when you text.

Concert night at the fairgrounds — what actually happens

The Sound sits on the Del Mar riverfront inside the fairgrounds. There is no rail stop; every ticket-holder arrives by car via Jimmy Durante Blvd, and every show lets out in one wave through the same gates. From the lot it is Jimmy Durante to Via de la Valle to the I-5 ramps — one merge carrying the whole room.

Through September 7, the summer race meet shares the property. On race days the lots, Jimmy Durante and Via de la Valle carry the racing crowd on top of the concert crowd — the shows marked race-meet day in the table above are the nights a staged driver earns the fare twice over.

EGT’s play, every show: curb drop at the hall before doors, driver staged minutes away, pickup that rolls the moment you text — while the lot is still inching toward the boulevard. The ride home after a show and a few drinks is the product.

Flying in for a show?

An intimate room pulls fans from far beyond the county. EGT covers the whole trip: SAN airport pickup (flat $65–$105 by zone), your Del Mar or downtown hotel, and the show-night round trip — one operator, one number, no surge anywhere in the chain.

Frequently asked

Where is The Sound and how do I get there from San Diego?

The Sound is the concert hall at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar - about 20 miles north of downtown San Diego via I-5, 25-35 minutes depending on traffic. There is no rail stop at the fairgrounds; everyone arrives by car on Jimmy Durante Blvd. EGT runs flat round trips from anywhere in metro San Diego: $120 BMW i7 / $160 Rivian R1S / $200 Escalade IQ-L (marquee shows $150/$200/$250). Call (858) 522-0264.

What is the parking and exit situation at The Sound?

The hall shares the Del Mar Fairgrounds with the summer race meet through Sep 7 - on race days the lots and Jimmy Durante Blvd carry both crowds. Every show exits in one wave through the same gates onto Jimmy Durante, then Via de la Valle to I-5. A pre-booked car with a staged driver skips the lot entirely: curb drop before doors, pickup that rolls when you text.

How much is a car service to a show at The Sound?

Standard shows: $120 round trip in the BMW i7 (2 passengers, $60/seat), $160 Rivian R1S (up to 4, $40/seat), $200 Escalade IQ-L (up to 5, $40/seat). Marquee headliners (Jack White Sep 30): $150/$200/$250. Flat, both legs, gratuity included, no surge at let-out.

How many EGT vehicles are available per show?

Each vehicle runs one round trip per event — drop at the gate, then a staged pickup about 30–45 minutes after it ends. One party per vehicle; when it's booked, the vehicle is booked for the night. Marquee nights sell out first; book when you buy tickets.

Can EGT pick up in North County instead of San Diego?

Yes - Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad and Rancho Santa Fe pickups are closer than downtown and quoted flat at booking, typically below the metro rate. Call (858) 522-0264 and an owner prices it on the spot.

Book the show, then book the ride

Marquee nights sell out the fleet first — Jack White Sep 30 will go the way Zach Bryan did. Flat, staged, no surge, sober ride home.
