Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds — Sturgill Simpson's touring identity — at Viejas Arena, SDSU campus, on Sunday, September 13, 2026 — 8:00 PM show. Event parking is about $25 in Structure 3 and fills, the Green Line Trolley exits in one crush, and the venue is warning of construction delays exiting onto Canyon Crest Drive. EGT flat round trip from anywhere in metro San Diego: $120 BMW i7 (2, $60/seat), $160 Rivian R1S (up to 4, $40/seat) or $200 Escalade IQ-L (up to 5, $40/seat) — curb drop near the arena, driver staged in Mission Valley, rolls when you walk out. Each vehicle runs two round trips per event — an early drop and a late drop — so there are a limited number of early and late slots per vehicle. The late-drop party gets a late pickup about 30-45 minutes after the event ends. Slots are confirmed in the order requests arrive; book early. When slots are full, EGT opens a cancellation list. Call (858) 522-0264.
Viejas Arena (5500 Canyon Crest Drive) sits on the east side of the SDSU campus, next to the SDSU Green Line Trolley station and just off the I-8/I-15 corridor in the Mission Valley area. Discounted event parking is about $25 in Parking Structure 3 on the east campus — it fills up, and the post-event exit out of the structure and onto the campus streets is slow.
It's slower than usual right now: Viejas Arena is advising attendees to expect delays exiting onto Canyon Crest Drive due to campus construction. That's the one street every parked car funnels onto after the show — and a Sunday-night crawl out of a parking structure is a rough start to a Monday.
After the show, the Green Line Trolley funnels the full crowd through the on-campus SDSU station at once, and the I-8/I-15 plus the campus exit take the rest of the load together. A Sturgill crowd skews older and drives — which means the parking structure and Canyon Crest Drive take more of this crowd than a typical student-heavy show. All the more reason to be the couple that walks past the structure to a waiting car.
EGT's play: a curb drop near the arena before the show, the driver staged nearby in Mission Valley during it, and a pickup that rolls the moment you text. No prepaid lot, no platform crush, no construction crawl, no surge, no designated driver on a work night.
Why the price beats the market: the flat rate covers the whole night — both legs — for what hourly services charge before the show even ends. There is no hourly clock and no staged-time billing: you pay for the two rides, not the three hours in between.
Event listing per the official Viejas Arena events calendar (as.sdsu.edu). Confirm date and showtime on your ticket. Checked .
Sturgill fans travel — his dates pull from across the Southwest, and plenty fly into San Diego for the weekend with no idea how the SDSU campus and Mission Valley traffic work. EGT covers the whole trip, not just the venue: SAN airport pickup when you land, your hotel, and the round trip to Viejas Arena on show night — one operator, flat rates, named driver, no surge.
