A Padres crowd trickles out from the seventh inning on. A concert crowd leaves together — one encore, one wave, every rideshare and parking garage hit at the same minute. The downtown special-event meter zone ($10/hour across ~200 blocks) applies to major Petco Park events, and full-stadium shows push 40,000+ people into the Gaslamp and East Village at once.

Where EGT recommends being dropped. Not at the ballpark — on Fifth Avenue at the gates of the Gaslamp, by Lou & Mickey's (224 Fifth Avenue), then a short walk in through the Gaslamp. The two curbs the Padres publish for private vehicles both sit against the stadium, which is exactly why they jam: every private car wants the same few metres at the same ten minutes. Fifth Avenue sits outside that. You are out and walking while the queue is still crawling — and afterwards your car is already on a moving street grid instead of waiting for the Park Boulevard crush to clear. Prefer to be set down at the gate and happy to wait for it? Ask, and we will use 6th & K.

The tailgate math. Meters inside the Special Event Parking Zone run $10/hour from about two hours before the show ($40–$60 for the evening), Padres-contracted lots are cashless with a 4-hour prepaid cutoff, and the wrong private lot is a CVC §22658 tow risk. A flat EGT round trip in the Escalade IQ-L works out to $50 a seat for five — and when the tailgate ends, nobody in your group has to be the one who stayed sober to drive. That is our job.
