2. Two Things Nearly Every Petco Guide Gets Wrong
One. “The drop-off is at the Hilton Bayfront.” That is the rideshare zone, and it is not the same thing. The Padres publish two separate instructions on two separate pages. The A–Z Guide, under “Rideshare Services,” sends Uber, Lyft and taxi to a loading zone “across the street from the Bayfront Hilton Hotel (next to the Convention Center) on Harbor Drive and Park Boulevard” and tells fans to “take the pedestrian sky bridge towards Petco Park.” But the “Getting to Petco Park by Car” page publishes a different, closer curb for private vehicles: “On the west side of the ballpark, guests may utilize 6th Avenue and K Street. On the east side of the ballpark, guests may utilize 10th Avenue and Park Boulevard.” Aggregator guides quote the first and skip the second, which is why so many visitors end up walking a quarter mile and a sky bridge when they did not have to.
Two. A Gallagher Square concert is a single-gate event. The Padres state it plainly on the concerts page: “Gallagher Square Concerts: Entry will be located at the Balboa Gate on J Street. Full Venue Concerts: All gates will be open for entry.” That one line changes the entire arrival plan — and J Street between 7th and 10th is also the street feeding the Padres Parkade entrance at 10th & J. Four of August 2026’s seven Petco concerts are Gallagher Square shows.

3. Drop-Off & Pick-Up — the Zone That Isn’t the Rideshare Zone
This is the practical difference between a chauffeured car and an app ride at Petco Park, and it is the venue’s own distinction, not ours.

There is no separate post-event pick-up location. The Padres publish the same zones for drop-off and pick-up. What changes after the last out is not the address — it is whether a specific vehicle and a named driver are already sitting there. That is the whole argument for a staged private car at this venue: the curb is available to anyone, but the wait is not.
Event-night street closures: the Padres publish none. They publish alternate ingress and egress routes for high-traffic days instead. Any guide claiming specific closures is inventing them.

4. Gates, and Which Street Each One Sits On

5. Parking: the Named Lots, Their Entry/Exit, and the 4-Hour Cutoff
The Padres name six official parking locations, and each one has a specific entrance and a specific exit — they are not interchangeable, and the exit is often on a different street than the entrance.

The cutoff nobody mentions: the Padres state that “parking is not available to purchase within 4 hours of the event.” If you have not bought a pass by then, prepaid parking is off the table and you are hunting privately-operated lots at event pricing.
Other operator-relevant facts: Ace Parking garages and lots open at least 2 hours before first pitch; Padres Preferred locations open 4 hours before. Everything is cashless — Padres Parkade, Lexus Premier and Tailgate Lot, plus the Hilton Bayfront and Convention Center garages. All locations stay open until 2:00 a.m. after an evening event. For concerts, Padres lots open at 12:00 p.m. for pre-purchased passes and tailgating is not permitted in the Tailgate Lot.
On price: the Padres route all parking pricing through a dynamic purchase widget and publish no dollar figures anywhere on their site. Any guide quoting you a firm Petco parking price is quoting a resale marketplace, not the venue. We are not going to invent one either.

6. Trolley & MTS — Three Lines, Three Stations
Petco Park is the best-served venue in San Diego County by rail. In the Padres’ own words: “All three (3) MTS Trolley lines, plus select bus routes, provide direct, frequent service to Petco Park.”

Service runs every 15 minutes or better before first pitch, with extra post-game trains. Adult fare is $2.50 one way or $6.00 for a day pass; riders 18 and under ride free with a Youth PRONTO account.
The catch is the last train. On a typical weeknight the Green Line’s last eastbound to El Cajon leaves around 11:36 p.m., the Orange Line around 11:56 p.m., and the Blue Line’s last northbound to UTC around 11:08 p.m. A 6:40 p.m. first pitch that goes to extra innings, or a concert with a long encore, can put you on the wrong side of that. Check the current timetable on the day — and if you are coming from North County, the last train is usually the binding constraint, not the fare.

7. Bag Policy — and Why Concerts Are Stricter Than Games
The standing policy, verbatim: “Petco Park will prohibit bags with the exception for single compartment clear plastic bags not exceeding 12″ X 6″ X 12″ and infant and medical bags. Clutches and purses no larger than 5″ X 7″.”
- The 12×6×12 bag must be clear and single-compartment. Infant and medical bags are exempt from the clear requirement.
- The 5″×7″ clutch or purse does not have to be clear.
- Camelbak-style backpacks are explicitly prohibited. Umbrellas are prohibited entirely. Wagons are allowed only if push-type with child restraints.
- Games vs. concerts differ on liquids. At a Padres game you may bring a factory-sealed, still, clear, unflavored water bottle up to one liter. At a concert or event: “Food and Beverage is not permitted in the ballpark, including factory sealed and reusable water bottles.”
- Individual shows can be tighter. The Padres’ own Morgan Wallen event imposed a 7″×10″ limit. Never treat the standing policy as final for a specific concert — check that show’s Know Before You Go page.

8. Gallagher Square vs. a Full-Stadium Show
Gallagher Square is the outfield park inside the ballpark — formerly the Park at the Park, renovated for Petco Park’s 20th anniversary. It has a playground, a fenced off-leash dog park, a Wiffle Ball field, pickleball courts, the Tony Gwynn Terrace viewing deck and the Sycuan Stage. Its pedestrian entrance is on J Street between 7th and 10th Avenues.

9. Lockers, Because There Is No Bag Check
Petco Park does not operate a bag check. It operates paid lockers. Lock & Go Lockers cost a flat $14 and sit in four locations: the Lexus Premier Lot across from the Home Plate Gate entrance, Tony Gwynn Drive & L Street, the Balboa Gate, and the East Village Gate. They open one hour before gates, and belongings must be collected no later than 30 minutes after the end of the game.
If you are arriving straight from the airport or a hotel with luggage, this is worth planning around — or worth simply leaving the bag in the vehicle, which is what a staged private car makes possible.

11. Getting There Without Parking — Published Flat Rates

Dropped at the ballpark curb — the private-vehicle zone at 10th & Park Boulevard, not the rideshare queue across Harbor Drive. Your named driver stages through the game or the show and is waiting when you walk out, which is the part no app can price.
One honest concession: if you are a solo fan already living downtown, the trolley at $2.50 each way is genuinely cheaper and drops you a block away. Take it. Where a flat-rate car wins is groups of three to five, anyone coming from North County or the coast, night games that end after the last train, and any evening involving a drink.

What is the address of Petco Park?
100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101 is the address the Padres use for guest correspondence and that the ticketing hosts list. MLB’s own ballpark guide publishes 19 Tony Gwynn Dr., San Diego, CA 92101. Both are official — they are opposite corners of the same building. Use 19 Tony Gwynn Dr. if you are heading for the Home Plate Gate, 100 Park Blvd. for the Park Boulevard frontage.
Where do cars drop off at Petco Park?
The Padres publish two private-vehicle drop-off and pick-up zones: 6th Avenue & K Street on the west side, and 10th Avenue & Park Boulevard on the east side. This is different from the rideshare zone, which the Padres place across Harbor Drive from the Bayfront Hilton next to the Convention Center, reached by a pedestrian sky bridge. If you are in a private or chauffeured car, the east curb at 10th & Park Boulevard puts you next to the Park Boulevard Gate with no bridge crossing.
Where does Uber drop off at Petco Park?
At the designated rideshare loading zone across the street from the Bayfront Hilton Hotel, next to the Convention Center, at Harbor Drive and Park Boulevard. The Padres direct fans to take the pedestrian sky bridge from there toward the ballpark. It is roughly a quarter mile plus the bridge, and it is the same zone for pick-up after the game — which is where the post-event queue forms.
What time do gates open at Petco Park?
All entry gates open 90 minutes prior to first pitch for Padres games. Season Ticket Members get access two hours early, at the Park Boulevard Gate and Home Plate Gate only. Concert gate times are set per show and published on that event’s Know Before You Go page — the two most recent full-stadium shows opened gates four hours before the headliner.
What is the bag policy at Petco Park?
Single-compartment clear plastic bags no larger than 12″ × 6″ × 12″, or clutches and purses no larger than 5″ × 7″. Infant and medical bags are permitted and do not need to be clear. A Gallagher show therefore funnels the whole audience down one street — J Street between 7th and 10th, which also feeds the Padres Parkade entrance at 10th & J. For those shows it is usually faster to be dropped east at 10th & Park Boulevard and walk around than to join the J Street approach.
